Art and Culture as Political Resistance with Joshua Allen

The CWC is honored to host guest facilitator Joshua Allen at the Black Cultural Center. "Art and Culture as Political Resistance", is designed to push participants to consider how art and culture serve as a catalyst to challenge the intersectional issues pertinent to our society, that cannot otherwise be combatted through policy. Participants will view an original mini-documentary, "Femme in Public SA", debrief, and engage in dialogue that challenges, inspires, and galvanizes them to be agents of positive change. 
All identities are welcomed to attend, but this is a safe space, and those violating community standards will be asked to leave.

About the facilitator:
Joshua Allen is an organizer and abolitionist whose work revolves around issues of race, gender and policing. Their work of coordinating direct actions, movement building and analyzing the intersections of race and gender has been featured in nearly every major news outlet in the United States. Joshua is heralded
as leading the cutting edge of new racial and gender justice movements for a freer society, as a result they have been invited to organize, speak & workshop in countries across the world.
