“Here on this bridge between starshine and clay, my one hand holding tight my other hand; come celebrate with me that everyday something has tried to kill me and has failed.” –Lucille Clifton
While there is a lot of trauma in our history, there is also so much joy in Blackness and being Black that we must celebrate.

The African diaspora lives within us every day. CWC and University Housing invite you to pause your busy schedules and uplift yourselves through an evening of storytelling and dance!

7:00-8:30: Anansi Open Mic: Students of color who identify with the African diaspora can sign up to perform a song, poem, or any other words they’d like to share.

8:30-10:00pm: Join ROOTZ, UW’s Afro-Caribbean dance team, for a performance and dance workshop.
